New Book By Couch Cousins, Jerry Lynn Benedict and Paul David Couch
Jerry Lynn Benedict, an attorney with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, and Paul David Couch, a retired business manager and Air Force Lt. Colonel, recently completed a new book on the Couch Family entitled, "THE THOMAS COUCH FAMILY; Pioneers from Virginia (1731) to Texas (1921) and Significant Historical Events that Touched Their Lives." The book begins in the Colonial Period in America and traces the known sons of Thomas and Elizabeth Couch of Prince George and Brunswick Counties, Virginia. The book pinpoints the exact location where Thomas and Elizabeth Couch had their 566 acre land grant in Brunswick County, Virginia, first recorded in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1720, then follows the move of Thomas and Elizabeth Couch’s sons down to Orange County, North Carolina, and pinpoints where they lived there. From North Carolina, the authors detail the part the Couch Family played in the Country’s Great Migration, and the moves from North Carolina to South Carolina, then to the Mississippi Territory (Alabama), on to Mississippi, and then finally to Texas.
The book represents many years of research and took in excess of two years to write. It is nearly 400 pages long and overlays the history of our country with the Thomas Couch Family and the various locations they lived in. It has many pictures, maps, and document copies in it, as well as sources and references.
The first printing of the book has sold out. Co-author Jerry Benedict’s wife, Donna, is accumulating names of individuals who might be interested in a second printing of the book.
