A book entitled A History of Cave City, Arkansas has been published and is now
available for purchase! The book was written by the Cave City Historical Committee and contains
histories and articles submitted by many residents and former residents of the Cave City area.
The publisher of the book, Windmill Publications, Inc., also published "A History of the One-Room
School Houses of Sharp County."
This hard-cover book is over 400 pages in length, is fully indexed, and contains over 300
photographs. Articles and histories are divided into four chapters, with a fifth chapter devoted solely
to loose photographs of Cave City-area families and groups. Chapter I is entitled "Pre- and Early-Cave City
Histories and Misc. Reminiscences." Chapter II is entitled "Clubs, Organizations, and Other Institutions," and
contains histories of the Bank of Cave City, Cave City newspapers, the Telephone Office, the Fire Department,
Curia Lodge #144, the Post Office, and Cave City Schools. Chapter III is entitled "Cave City Area Churches."
Chapter IV is entitled "Biographies and Family Histories," which includes histories and/or biographies of the
following surnames of the Cave City area:
Ball, Baxter, Boles, Brewer, Burge, Carpenter, Crow, Dickey, Dover, Eason, Ford, Gilbert, Girtman,
Gray, Harrell, Horn, Jackson, Johnson, Kendall, Kent, Kunkel, Laman, Matheny, Matlock, McGee,
McLeod, Meacham, Medlock, Milligan, Mobley, Montgomery, Phillips, Rodgers, Simpson, Stewart,
Taylor, Wells, Woodyard, and Wooldridge.
The price of the book is $35.00, which includes state sales tax. An additional shipping and handling
charge of $3.50 will be added to each book that requires mailing. The books will be available at the following
