DAVIES BATTALION ARKANSAS CAVALRY

FIELD AND STAFF AND COMPANIES

In 1864 Cpts Park Wilcockson, John McHenry and H.W. Glasscock, each raised a company of cavalry in Greene County for Maj. J. F. Davies' battalion of Col. Kitchens' regiment. Col. Solomon Kitchens' regiment was based out of Kennett, Mo. Lt Col J.F.Davies, according to the Official Record was in command of the 7th MO Cav and Davies' Bn. He filed his report of the units activities during Price's Raid into MO 12 Dec 1864. (Page 695, OR) They were engaged in skirmishes at the following places in MO: Old Jackson, Union, Hermann, Jefferson City, New California, Boonville, Glasgow, Lexington, Little Blue, Independence, Big Blue. At the time the report was written, the unit was in camp on the Red River at Cressville, TX.

The records were compiled almost entirely from parole records. Members of the unit were paroled at Wittsburg, Ark 25 May 1865. All enlistments were in Ark unless otherwise noted.
