COUCH
John Couch & Rachel
DNA #28155
Of South Carolina
If you find a match in this chart please contact Bill Couch and state the Name of the chart and where the chart was located.
This DNA is not matching up where it is suppost to. but Calvin Dorris has Deeds that do prove that
this is the John That Was the son of James and Mary.
On 27 day of January 1841 Rachel Couch Relinquish all her Interest and Estate and also all her right
and claim of dower and was listed as wife of John.
This was for Property that John Couch sold To Joshua Saxton listing other brothers and sister of John.
Now we got to figure out Why the DNA is not matching. We need to find another Descendant to take the
test that is not Closlely related to the other DNA .
(BC)
Here is my thoughts as to why the DNA did not match as I though it should
The 1880 census list Melissa, Wife of Alexander Couch as a Widow and her last child was born 1878.
Then by the 1900 census Melissa is still not married but she now had three more Couch Children that she list as her own.
The census states she has had 7 children and this all add up. but the last three was born after Alexander Died.
And Probably was not married at that time. And this will account for the DNA not matching up with the Couch DNA.

NOTE FOR JOHN & RACHEL from Kim Gouin
"Charles Artemus Eargle married Nancy Couch Sept 2, 1856 Campbell County
Georgia. She was born in South Carolina about 1832 and could speak only
German,
very little English.** Her parents were John and Rachel Couch. The families
of Artemus Eargle, John Ergle and John Couch are all listed on the 1860
census records of Campbell County, Georgia. Artemus and Nancy had five
children; John J., Henry, Elizabeth, James T., and Harvey. ...After Artemus
died, Nancy, her 16 year old brother, her 5 children and 4 step children
moved to Erath county Texas in the early 1870's."
** This may be in error. Charles Artemus Eargle was married twice. His first
wife, Annie Elizabeth Price's parents were "natives of Germany." Maybe it
was his first wife who could speak only German?
That's about all I have. I would appreciate any more information on the Couch
family,
so that I may know which branch I belong to .
Thanks,
Kim Gouin
