It is said in my family that there is an uncle who lived in Lepanto. He was a tiny little Indian man who died when he was 103 years old. He was crossing the street and was hit by a car. This is supposed to have happened in Lepanto, I don't know when, but I would guess maybe in the 1950's. His surname was probably HECTOR. If anyone knows anything about a story like this, please contact me.

Mr. Couch,
Im am interested in the history of the Slaven family in Craighead
County. James G. Slaven was married to Eliza McGowen on June 24th 1888.
We know James was from Kentucky. We don't know who James' father's name
was. We think they might have come from Wayne County Kentucky.
Can you shed some light on this mystery?
Sincerely,
Dave Slaven

Hi Bill,
My name is Tom O'Connor. I am a Baptist pastor in Michigan. Recently, I found a marriage license in a box of old family photos. My late grandmother, Gertrude Mina Thompson (maiden name) had married a Sam Miller of Jonesborro, AR around 1917-1919. Sam and Gertrude had aleast one if not two children, Margaret Jacquline (Jan 19, 1919) and Bill. Gertrude Mina Thompson was born in Poplar Bluff, MO. on May 9 ,1905.
Sam Miller may have been employed by the railroad.Sam Miller who would probably be deceased by now apparently was my grandfather. Other sketchy family infomation indicated that Sam may have been a Cherokee indian. I can gather no other infomation than this.
